      <description>In December 2008 the Department of the Interior established new rules that allowed individuals to lawfully carry their concealed firearms on National Parks and Refuges if the state in which the Park or Refuge resided allowed for concealed carry.  As described in the March 24th Crosshairs, this rule was recently suspended by a preliminary injunction by the D.C. District Court.   In an effort to restore these 2nd Amendment Rights, Senator Tom Coburn  R OK  introduced an amendment on May 12th, 2009 to be considered as part of the Credit Card Holder Bill of Rights legislation.  Senator Coburn s amendment prohibited the Secretary of Interior from enforcing the ban on transporting weapons through or carrying firearms on National Parks and Wildlife refuges, as long as the action would be legal in the state where the park resides.  The Senate agreed to the addition of this amendment to the credit card bill by a vote of 67 29.  The Senate then approved the whole Credit Cardholders Bill of Righ...</description>
