Will Crossbows Be Legal During Bow Hunting Season

Well, It passed the Senate yesterday HB 968 with a 31 1 vote. We spoke before the senate committee the week before and it passed with a 4 1 vote and the 1 was someone that came in at the last and replaced another committee member. LSBA lobbied those senators hard too. Only 3 persons showed on the opposition and one chose not to speak. The two who did speak were the current president of the LSBA, and the past president. Their testimony was based off of non facts or truths so they weren t taken seriously. Comment pertained to crossbows shooting game at 100 yards, which is not the truth. Then the other part of the testimony pertained to the PSE Tac 15 which isn t even on the market. It s a bastard weapon which consists of an AR 15 lower end, and so far, in the Crossbow community here in the USA, there isn t any interest in it. There is some interest in Italy, but would have to get a permit since it has the AR 15 lower end. The LSBA put out a call to arms at 9AM Friday morning bef...

We headed back to lake Amistad to compete in the TBA Bow Fishing tourney, and to do some scouting Thursday and Friday. The lake was rough and saw another boat sink at the ramp. LOL. Butch and I competed as a two man team yep, I m the only girl as usual , and another friend Chuck, competed as a two man team with our youngest boy Mat. I think there were 10 teams of 2 and 3 man crews. It was tough fishing and tough waters so we tried to get away from the wind and waves and headed to a cove with alot of caves we looked at Friday. No little fish to be seen. I mean, those 10 20 pound Carp and Gar, which normally may be considered a big fish, but not today It was 2AM and just like that there IT was. I couldn t believe it I couldn t talk either I just shot All Butch heard was a huge gasp for air and looked up and it was on A ride of a lifetime was on the other end of my arrow I had shot what every bowfisherman may hunt to arrow for 30 years before being succe...

New rule changes as of Sept. 1, 2009

Before you head out, better check all the new changes that are happening as of Sept. 1, 2009. We went to the TPWD commissioners meeting, and there are going to be changes to Lake Texoma, Lewisville, and a few others. Blue catfish were one of the changes. Also, only one alligator gar per person, per day any size. Another big change is FLOUNDER. The new limit will be a bag of 5 per day from 10 for Sportsmen, and 30 per day for commercial fishermen from 60. A few radicals were there to try and close Flounder for the months of November through January. One group, CCA wanted it closed for the whole month of November.

Javelina Craut

If you didnt know, Javelina is better tasting meat than wild hog. Here s a great recipe for a group. Sounds funky but tastes really good and is simple. A Javelina roast. 1 Jar of Libbys sauercraut 5 potatoes skinned and cut into chunks Hard to beleive, but no seasonings other than salt Pepper. Cut the roast into bite size chunks and sautee in a frying pan with a little oil. Put meat either in slow cooker or a pot on the stove top. Add sauercraut, potaotes and enough water to cover all. Cook over medium heat for an hour, checking water occasionally. Voila This is some good stuff and I don t care for sauercraut much. It s one of my other halfs favorite meals, and he s picky.
