I received these photos and story that I wanted to share with everyone. He estimated that it was 300lbs. Justin gathered his dogs and drove out alone. After setting out the first two dogs, Lady and Winter, it wasn t long until they were on the trail. Justin heard Lady trying to catch and set Sally catch dog loose. Justin wasn t prepared for what he was about to encounter. As he came around the corner, Sally was being thrown through a fence, and Lady was tossed up 4 foot in the air. Then he went from trying to catch the hog to trying to save his dogs. After several stitches and 15 staples to Lady, Justin went to work and gathered more guys and dogs. And something more than a pair of hobbles Later that night after much plann...

H.B. 968 Allowing Crossbows During Archery Season

The following email was sent to me by Wendy White to give everyone another perspective of the HB 968. It passed the Senate yesterday with a 31 1 vote. We spoke before the senate committee the week before and it passed with a 4 1 vote and the 1 was someone that came in at the last and replaced another committee member. LSBA lobbied those senators hard too. Only 3 persons showed on the opposition and one chose not to speak. The two who did speak were the current president of the LSBA, and the past president. Their testimony was based off of non facts or truths so they weren t taken seriously. Comment pertained to crossbows shooting game at 100 yards, which is not the truth. Then the other part of the testimony pertained to the PSE Tac 15 which isn t even on the market. It s a bastard weapon which consists of an AR 15 lower end, and so far, in the Crossbow community here in the USA, there isn t any interest in it. There is some interest in Italy, but would have to get a permit since i...

World s Quickest Turkey Hunt by Bob Linder

This great story was sent to us by Bob Linder, Texas State President of the National Wild Turkey Federation NWTF and super volunteer for many other organizations related to hunting and fishing in Texas... Diana and I left town at daylight yesterday headed for two and a half days in South Texas to hunt the Rio Grand Gobbler. We pulled into Dos HAches ranch about 1 p.m. Took a short nap and got into the field and got set up at 3 58 and made the first call. The call was met with a gobble. Seven minutes later Diana had her gobbler on the ground. It was a 3 year old with a 9 1 2 inch beard and 19 lbs with one inch spur. We took photos and drove the Jeep down and loaded up the bird and I went back and parked in behind some trees and walked back to our set up. I sat down and began calling and suddenly a hen and 3 gobblers appeared down the road all 3 gobblers strutting. The hen led them away from my calls. They were only gone for 15 minutes and came ...

Happy Birthday Texas Declaration of Independence was signed March 2nd, 1836

The Texas Declaration of Independence March 2, 1836 The Texas Declaration of Independence was produced, literally, overnight. Its urgency was paramount, because while it was being prepared, the Alamo in San Antonio was under siege by Santa Anna s army of Mexico. Immediately upon the assemblage of the Convention of 1836 on March 1, a committee of five of its delegates were appointed to draft the document. The committee, consisting of George C. Childress, Edward Conrad, James Gaines, Bailey Hardeman, and Collin McKinney, prepared the declaration in record time. It was briefly reviewed, then adopted by the delegates of the convention the following day. As seen from the transcription below, the document parallels somewhat that of the United States, signed almost sixty years earlier. It contains statements on the function and responsibility of government, followed by a list of grievances. Finally, it concludes by declaring Texas a free and independent republic. The full text of the d...
