Close Call

Pretty impressive videos of the crash of the USAF Thunderbirds Solo 6 during air show at Mountain Home , Idaho. The First video shows the maneuver on takeoff and then the crash, including audio of T bird radio communications as the accident happens. Knock it off is the radio code to immediately end the air show. Pilot of 6 was an F 15 instructor pilot at Tyndall AFB until last year when he joined the Thunderbirds. He was banged up on ejection but is evidently OK. The second video is a cockpit view of pilot no audio showing him doing the maneuver and then punching out just before impact talk about close look how quick the screen goes static after he ejects, about 8 tenths of a second. You can sense how fast the ground was coming up to meet him. Apparently pilot error caused the crash reports indicate he did not get to sufficient altitude before starting the Split S maneuver. How he lived is still the question.

New SCI Typical Whitetail World Record

I m no high fence fan, and there s no telling what they feed these deer, but it looks like somebody took a new SCI world record typical whitetail near Fredericksburg back in October pretty impressive just the same. So was the guy s pocketbook that shot it too read below . Looks like the forecasters for this deer season were right on target. Another new potential record buck was taken this past weekend. On Saturday, October 9th, a whitetail buck was harvested outside of Fredericksburg, TX that is likely to become the new world record SCI Typical whitetail. Taken on the Bang Whitetail Ranch, which is owned by Jerry and Carrie Bang, this unbelievable buck green scored 253 2 8th inches gross, and netted 250 1 8th inches. The Bang Whitetail Ranch began managing ten years ago and is in their third year to offer commercial hunts. The ranch is managed and operated as a family operation, and is on an MLDP Level 3 permit system. Amazingly this buck is estimated to...

Cow versus Bear

Got this via email...some great photos. Interesting photos from a ranch in the Kettle Valley, BC area where every year they have to deal with some pretty weird stuff. This year a bear had been bothering the herd and I guess enough was enough. A couple of evenings ago, Wayne went out to check the cows and saw a very strange sight and was able to photograph the event. A black bear approached our cow herd which turned out to be a very big mistake on his part. The blonde and white Simmental cow we know as I 12 went right for him. She is a very good cow, a very attentive mother and about 12 years old. She s in her prime and knows that bears are bad news. She and tried her best to mash him into the ground. There are a couple of photos where the bear is biting I 12 s leg and clawing her face but she is not giving up. Her stiff tail shows how agitated she is. Wayne said all the cows were bawling, the bear was squealing, the cal...

No. 2 Black Bear Taken This Week

From an email some buds from PA sent... This bear was shot yesterday with a crossbow in northeastern PA. 875 lbs live weight and 744 dressed, 2 in the WORLD and a new PA State Record . He missed the world record by 4 pounds.... The bear is right around 9 feet and will need a grizzly mold when he gets it mounted. This bear has some really cool history, It was right in the area we shot him for the last 17 years or so. Also, It has been caught in NJ numerous times which means he isn t afraid to swim the Delaware River. Last year he was trying to mate with a female bear who was in a snare in NJ. The female was caught by the NJDEP for testing and the big boy was with her, so they had to tranquilize him so he didnt injure the female. As you can see in the pics, he has a tattoo on his lip. He was 711 pounds when he was caught by the Game Commission...so he put on some weight since then. He has an AWESOME blaze on his chest, i have never seen a bear with a U shaped blaze......

Sorry Hunters

Got this via email and checked it out...Lamar . This actually happened, and frankly coinsidering the area its not surprising at all. People in Schuylkill County, Pa have a warped sense of humor. This is the pull off at SR 61 and Adamsdale Rd. A deer was hit there. The couch was dumped there previously. On day two the deer was on the couch by day three the end table and lamp showed up by day four the TV and TV stand showed up. The Trooper had to call PENN DOT Pennsylvania Dept of Transportation because of all the people stopping to take pictures. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE SIGN, which reads Sorry Hunters. Obama ruined healthcare. We can t afford to have injured hunters on our conscience, so I m staying home Sorry, the Deer.

A Reminder of Why We Need A Second Amendment

Got this via email excellent point. You re sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it. In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside. As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you re in trouble. In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless. Your...

Bow Totin Grandma

This deer was taken during bow season GRAYSON COUNTY, TX A Texoma grandmother says she bagged her biggest deer in Grayson County this weekend, and it may be one of the biggest ever killed in the area by a woman. Joyce Ooten, 60, used her bow to shoot this 19 point buck over the weekend. Ooten shot the big game on her property, the Refuge Road Archery Range. Ooten says she and her husband, Donnie, have had a friendly rivalry for some time over who will kill the bigger deer. Now, she says she s ahead. He d been telling me if you re going to get that deer, you had better get down there and hunt it. I like to hunt in the afternoon, not much on mornings, and he said you better go down there and get it or I m going to get him. I beat him to it, Ooten says. Ooten says she will mount the deer on her wall. We re still waiting to hear back from Texas Parks and Wildlife to see if this kill breaks any records.

Wisconsin Buck

Got thjis via email and checked it out with perhaps the comments over how much Cabela s offered him for the deer its true. Deer Hunters Here are some early photos of a great deer taken during the youth hunt this year. This buck was shot at a property only eight miles from where I hunt on my brother in law s property in Grant County. We saw a buck with 16 inch tines two years ago. It could have been him or a relative. Anyway, Grant County produces some great bucks every year. This buck green scores 203 Typical, NET, not gross. If so, this would place this buck in the top three typical all time in Wisconsin, and that includes the great Jordan Buck at 207 that was world record for decades. These pictures were taken in front of the Cabala s store in Prairie du Chien, WI. The hunter shown in the picture a 15 year old Williams boy from Millville, WI. The deer was shot between Millville and Woodman. The buck was shot with a rifle during the youth h...
