Weekly migratory bird hunting reports are posted from early September through early February. North Zone Dove The North Zone is closed, but reopens Dec.23 Jan.8, 2012. Best flights occurred around the Panhandle in sunflowers and milo around Amarillo, Dumas and Spearman. Good shoots were posted around Lubbock and north of Abilene in plowed ground. Red River hunters saw fair hunting at best around treelines and in harvested soy bean fields. Tanks and ponds holding water were good in the afternoon due to the drought, but wet watering holes were tough to find. Central Zone Dove The Central Zone is closed, but reopens Dec.23 Jan.8, 2012. The San Antonio area remained solid for whitewings over corn and milo.

Weekly migratory bird hunting reports are posted from early September through early February. North Zone Dove The North Zone season closes at sunset Oct. 23. The season has been fair at best, probably due to lack of traditional watering holes due to the drought. Best flights occurred around the Panhandle in sunflowers and milo around Amarillo, though wet playas are limited. Doves have been using feed lots ponds for waters. Good shoots were posted around Paris and fields north of Dallas. The cold front his week should push new mourners to Texas, though, traditionally, few hunters participate this late in the season. Prospects are fair to good. Central Zone Dove An influx of birds hit this region of the state last week on the heels of the cold front, but few hunters noticed due to lack of participation. Dove hunting priorities have shifted to preparations for the upcoming deer season. Hankamer and Winnie, along the Central and South zone borders, have enjoyed steady flights. Sealy...

Finally got the full report to post, hope y all enjoy. This past Friday, Run N Gun Adventures, along with help from Sunrise Lodge and a handful of Matagorda s finest guides teamed up to host the first annual PCI Fishing Showdown Performance Contractors Inc. . The Performance crew started arriving mid afternoon on Friday and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with a few cold beverages while waiting on dinner to be served. Once everyone had arrived, a spectacular steak dinner was served around 8pm. After dinner, the guys enjoyed a few cigars and practiced their fishing skills off the dock. Saturday morning the lodge served breakfast tacos and coffee on the dock as I directed the guys onto their boat for the day. We had set up a small tourney that was going to place out 1st, 2nd and 3rd for trout and reds. After everyone was loaded up on their boat we all departed for a morning of fishing. Most of us headed west, a few guys headed east and a couple went chasing reds in the back lake...

Weekly migratory bird hunting reports are posted from early September through early February. North Zone Dove Corn, milo and sunflowers continue to produce near Amarillo and Dumas. Feed lot tanks have held birds in the afternoon since few playas are wet. Abilene and Lubbock hunters have seen the same results. Red River hunters have seen their best shoots around treelines and watering troughs. More birds moved into the area this week with the cooler temperatures, and expect more with the forthcoming full moon. The season runs through Oct. 23. Prospects are fair. Central Zone Dove Whitewings continue to find corn and milo fields in and around San Antonio, though hunter participation is down since the opener. Some of the younger disabled members bring their dads or moms for the hunt. Affordability is a great obstacle for people who are under employed or unemployed, which is the case for many of our challenged hunters. We provide hotel accommodations as needed , all meals, hunting and fishing sites, and physical assistance for the weekend. When necessary we ...
