Below is an email from an old high school friend of mine, Collie James, regarding his daughter Maddie and a foundation they have started in her honor. The foundation website is http maddiejamesfoundation.org . Please take a minute today and visit the memorial site and make a 5 donation. Also, updates are still being posted on Maddie s Caring Bridge website which is http www.caringbridge.org visit madeleinejames . Both Collie and Kajsa greatly appreciate all the emails and messages on the website. Thank you. Dear Friends and Family, As many of you know, my five year old daughter and only child, Maddie, was recently diagnosed with an inoperable, malignant brain tumor. The specific type of tumor she has is known as Deep Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG, and is among the most feared pediatric cancers. Sadly, there is no cure, and the median life expectancy after diagnosis is nine months. The long term survival rate is zero. Kajsa and I hope that she will mak...

BP issued their Incident Report today regardless, they alone are liable as the lease holder in Federal Waters

BP issued a long awaited investigative report that says a complex series of failures and bad decisions by itself and other companies led to the deadly Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in April. The report, four months in the making, boils the investigation down to eight key findings. The British oil giant says tests on the drilling well were incorrectly assessed by BP and its drilling partner, Transocean, and that a key cement job on the drilling well was poorly done. These failures and others led to hydrocarbons running up the well, eventually causing the rig to explode into a massive blow torch. The finding, posted on BP s website, also fingers Transocean workers, who BP said failed to recognize and act on the influx of hydrocarbons into the well. http online.wsj.com article SB10001424052748703453804575479273612869274.html mod djemalertNEWS Text of BP statement http online.wsj.com article SB100014240527...

It is hard to believe that articles like this are considered a serious discussion. http online.wsj.com article SB10001424052748703915204575103520836794314.html mod todays_us_nonsub_page_one By DEBORAH BALL ZURICH Last month, Antoine Goetschel went to court here in defense of an unusual client a 22 pound pike that had fought a fisherman for 10 minutes before surrendering. Mr. Goetschel is the official animal lawyer for the Swiss canton of Zurich, a sort of public defender who represents the interests of pets, farm animals and wildlife. He wound up with the pike as a client when animal welfare groups filed a complaint alleging animal cruelty in the fish s epic battle with an amateur angler. The case emerged after a local newspaper photo showed the fi...

Many golf cart electric buggy sales people are telling potential customers there is a tax credit big discount . To the best of my knowledge this is FALSE. Am I wrong Qualified Plug In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Tax Credit A tax credit is available for the purchase of a new qualified plug in electric drive motor vehicle that draws propulsion using a traction battery that has at least four kilowatt hours of capacity, uses an external source of energy to recharge the battery, has a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 14,000 pounds, and meets specified emission standards. The minimum credit amount is 2,500, and the credit may be up to 7,500, based on each vehicle s traction battery capacity and the gross vehicle weight rating. The credit will begin to be phased out for each manufacturer in the second quarter following the calendar quarter in which a minimum of 200,000 qualified plug in electric drive vehicles have been sold by that manufacturer for use in the U.S. This tax cred...

Good news is my little brother and his wife are OK after rolling my mother s F250 down the highway during a heavy rain storm on their way to Tyler. No other vehicle was involved, they were just going to fast in the rain. Bad news is this is the second F250 he has wrecked in a couple of years. It is amazing they walked away. I think the heavy rain and East Texas mud probably saved their lives giving them a soft landing and slowing the truck down as it rolled to a stop. Yes, they were wearing seatbelts.

My son and I went to the Scout s Camp Tom Wooten this past weekend to earn the archery and shooting sports belt loops for Cub Scouts. After we were finished, we built a rocket out of construction paper, cone water cups and lots of tape. The kids launched their rockets with adult supervision using an air compressor. Simple engineering. Cheap materials. Hours of fun. Great idea for a kid s birthday party also.
