The longest twenty three yard shot of my life

My dad and I went hunting one Saturday morning. It was about eight in the morning when a nice eight pointer comes out from a dry bed. My dad said to get ready cause he was goint to try and call him in. After a few grunts the buck comes out about thirty yards. I come to a full draw and out goes my arrow. Boom my arrow hits a limb on a tree. The nice buck was never to be seen again. I look at my dad and he smiles and says, thats bowhunting buddy. Well after a short meal we head back out to our ground blind. It was about two o clock. At three o clock my dad says a nilgai cow was coming our way.I got ready and the nilgai cow spotted my movement. She stopped turn and headed back the way she was coming in. I was like there went my chance at harvesting an animal for this season. An hour passed when a nilgai bull was coming our way. He was coming in fast. He stopped at twenty three yard facing striaght at me. My dad said to draw and wait for him to get broadside. A minute passed and no one wo...

Just thought I would share the biggest deer I have ever shot. Not to mention with my bow. My son was not sure what to think of the ole buck. I think my taxidermist did a very good job especially for 50.00. By the way, if you can tell the color of the horns, they are not dyed. Everyone who has seen the deer ask if they were.

Does Hunting Deer With A Silencer Matter To You

I ve been thinking about this proposed regulation that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering allow hunters to use silencers and sound suppressors on rifles to hunt deer. I m not sure how I feel about it. I already use a silenced firearm for whitetails. It s called a bow. The real discussion is about rifles altered so that the sound is mostly silenced or suppressed. None of the silencers I m familiar with are totally silent. And all of them compromise the speed and power of the bullet. When you fire a rifle, the bullet leaves the barrel at something in excess of 1,100 feet per second faster than the speed of sound. That crack you hear is basically a small sonic boom. To eliminate that portion of the noise, the velocity of the bullet has to be reduced within the gun, and that impacts the hunter s effective range. It s a matter of physics. The proposal that Texas Parks and Wildlife commissioners have sent to the Texas Register for public comment actu...

It was my second year at the refuge. I was hoping to shoot something this year and not miss like last year.It was almost time to head home. I was getting worried that i was not going to shot something this year to. I had just started to pick up my things when i felt something was staring at me. I turned around and there it was standing and staring at me. It was 8 yards away from me. I got my bow and drew. It started to walk in the woods so i made a noise and it stopped. pufff my arrow was off. it was a double lung shot. It took off and fell 20 yards from where i shot it. It was one of the best days of my life.
