Lake Fork Fishing picking up

The fishing has finally picked up here at Lake Fork. The cold weather has hurt us all year but the warm days we got over the last weekend has help a bunch. Fish hit the grass and are bitting. Size is good numbers are ok and it looks like they will be more move up Wed Thursday when it gets above 50 again. Traps, jerkbaits, spinner baits, and chatter baits are working over the grass in 2 5 ft. Best colors red orange, gold black orange belly, chart white. Water temp had been in the low 50 s depending on where you are on the lake but this is good. We have been sitting in the mid 40 s for to long. I look for the bite to get better in the next few weeks. If you are interested in a guide trip on Lake Fork you can reach me at the number listed below.
Galveston Fishing

Well it is already Feb. and Spring is coming up. Spring is consistently a great time to fish, getting the kids out for a spring break trip is always a good idea. Nothing is better than seeing a huge smile on a kids face after a great day of fishing. March is also a great time for catching speckled trout and from what I have experienced and have been told by my peers, fishing in Spring and Summer has been outstanding after a very cold winter. So I look forward to some awesome fishing in the next couple of months Don t worry about a fish kill, most of the fish that has been killed is bait fish and trash fish. Now I m sure some quality fish have also been effected, but not to a point that it should have any negative effect on future fishing. I haven t been on the water too much lately, due to minor boat repairs, sponsor events and some really cold and windy weather. I have been talking to some guides that have been having some great days on the water and catching some big trout 6 8 pou...

February is big Bass time here on Lake Fork. For all you fisherman that have been waiting for those big females to start moving to the shallows, now is the time. Lake Fork is in great shape for another fantastic year of fishing in 2010. The fishing has been good for size the last three days with the water temp on the rebound after that bad cold front. Numbers of quality Bass can be found starting to stage in the grass beds around points, ditches, and creeks near spawning flats. Starting at the mouths of the creeks and working your way back is the best approach to locating pre spawn Bass this time of year. Dearing a cold front the Bass will be more active and concentrated on main lake and or secondary points. On warmer days, you will find that the bite is better at the very back of the creeks. Once you locate a fish or two it is good to make another pass back through the area as there will usually be several more in that location and come back and hit it again later in the da...

Take time to study and dissect docks properly

Editor s note Yes, we know many docks throughout the nation are ringed with ice and inaccessible. But while you re sitting around tonight in the recliner think about your favorite fishing spots and how to use veteran pro Larry Nixon s tips to increase your success around docks. By Larry Nixon When fishing a tournament or just or fun at any of the great fisheries we have across the nation, there s undoubtedly more than one way to catch some fish. With that many fish and that many surface acres of water, it s not uncommon to see two different people have great fishing days while doing completely different things. Some people like to cover a lot of water and rush from spot to spot, but I prefer to pick a couple of different areas to target and focus my efforts there. More homes are being built on lakes and one of the first things new homeowners do is build a dock. These docks aren t just for tying up boats they make for great fishing. A lot of tournament money has been won fish...

Winter time fishing is hear on Fork. With the weather changing so much in the last week the water temp has dropped into the 40s and the bite has been tough this week. If you are looking for numbers Lake Monticello is the place to be. But if you are looking to catch a Bass of a lifetime Lake Fork is were you will want to spend your time on the water. Now is the time of year lake fork starts to give up the real Trophy Bass. This past week most of the bass we have caught have been on lipless crank baits, red has been the best color for me, and water depth 3 to 8 feet over the grass. The best places to look for are at the mouths of the major creeks. Mustang, Little Caney, White Oak, and Pinson, have been good this week. Tuesday of this week we put 12 bass in the boat that weighed up to 9lbs all on 3 4 oz red lipless crank baits. The key right now is to cover as much water as you can. These bass are scattered over the grass, therefore when you go down a bank turn around and fish it aga...
