Is your iPhone or iPod Touch a bit too, well, artsy? Not rugged or manly enough for your taste?

Well, here's the solution: the Bulletflight ballistics calculator, which predicts the trajectory of bullets fired from high-powered sniper rifles by taking into account half a dozen variables including wind speed, distance, outside temperature and altitude. After digesting all the information, Bulletflight tells you where exactly on the sniper scope you should position your target in order to hit it.

We have not had a chance to do a product review on this IPhone app but we are itching to try it out!!  Stay tuned...

This app would be very useful it you could program for use in common calibre hunting rifles. I would buy it today, but it seems to be strictly military in use.

I often wish I had a ballistics chart for common hunting rounds available in the field.

You don't need an app to calibrate your hunting rifle.  While this is a useful application in long distance shooting the best application and any sniper will tell you in first consistency of your ammo and the second is just spending time at the range.  Your cold bore shot is the most important since you often get only one shot at an animal.  Snipers spend several hours on the range shooting cold bore shots at different distances.  Experience and time at the range is the best way to determine you rifles capabilities and not short cuts.

i agree with the author, i have spent years shooting, and this app is lazeness in my opinon. what happen to good old fashoned hard work? i understand the point behind it but why a us sniper needs this app i dont know. like th author said " consistancy patience, and time make you a good shot" not cell phones with an app. i dont need the app to tell me where to put a bullet and either a stand or moving target, trail and error had taught me that with the guidence of my grandfather(who was a sniper in vietnam for the 101st airborne). even tho a critter is runing/flying doesnt mean you have to rush that shot, take your time and be patient.
