This is the final phase of the Moss' Sweet Lick Product Review. If you want to catch up on how we got here, you can see the results of our previous test by CLICKING HERE.

For the final phase of our Product Review, we decided to go to Academy and buy four competitive products. We found two "licks" by Buck Lickers that were direct competitors based on the flavor (Acorn & Apple); and we bought two more licks, Wild Persimmon by Buck Lickers and The Original Deer Cane Block.

First Impressions:

Moss' Sweet Licks smell so strong. If they were smaller, I would probably think they were candy for ME. They are slightly smaller in physical size but feel very heavy.

Academy's Licks cost $6.95 whereas Moss' Sweet Licks were $12.95. Of course money matters, but let's see how they perform?

Setting up the Taste Test:

We wanted to have the four Taste Test Locations on the same acreage so we could see if all the animals ganged up on certain flavors over others. Each Taste Test Area was about 50 yards from any other one. We placed a Wildview Wildlife Camera in each area and set up the two Licks to be tested. To keep the Moss' Sweet Licks from being carried off (past experience taught me this), I drilled holes through the center of each one and tied a string to a near by bush.

The location we chose has great habitat, good natural forage, and a constant source of water from Barton Creek Watershed.

Summary of Taste Test:

If you want to attract every species of animal on your land, we decided Noah used Moss' Sweet Licks to load the Ark. Licorice, Apple and Acorn all attracted high numbers of whitetail does, bucks, coyotes, foxes, ringtail cats, rabbits, every other critter in the night.

Buck Lickers Wild Persimmon did a great job stopping whitetail deer and lasted longer on the ground.  But I wonder if it lasted longer because the Moss' Sweet Licks were literally licked away.
