Nice lookin' buck, but also lookin' mighty slim after what appears to be a post-rut photo.  If your place is anything like ours food this part time of the year isn't as plentiful as last year.  In fact, we took a couple of does New Years and one was already eating cedar shoots, a really bad indication of food scarcity.

David, you are right on about post rut, pic was taken the last week of Dec.  And yes to the range conditions....although our doe recovered from the Oct/Nov poor conditions to put on a little fat by the end of the year!  We did get some decent moisture in Nov and Dec but now with the cold snap I'm sure they are stressed again.  I''m headed out this week for a few days to check out doe season and get things started for next season, never stops does it?
