what kind of gun did you shoot it with
Rem Model 700. Caliber was a 30-06 150 grain bullet. There was an entrance wound on the second hog but no exit. Range of about 50 yards. The paint job is a custom dura-coat finish, scope is a 3x9 with a 50 mm objective. Also is has a "non-stock" trigger. Id have to ask my gun smith buddy what it was exactly, it is EXTREMELY smooth.
i have a rem. model 700 but its in 270. win, good job on the hogs
The 30-06 dropped every hog it shot. The 30/30 did the same, but for some reason the 7mm 08 let them run about 60 yards each despite perfect shot placement.
i was about to get a 7mm 08 but i got a 44. mag instead
Just to clarify, My hunting buddy and I made the rule that after you had a confirmed kill, we had to switch to a different rifle. Needless to say we didnt bring enough rifles!!
I was impressed with the 7-08 ballistics, every shot was dead on. However I was using ballistic tips and they still ran a ways.
I am a landowner in Cottle county, and I love the excitment of hunting hogs. I can remember the days (nights) spent hunting with my grandfather, we'd drive though thousands of acres of land he leased for either farming or running cattle. Since he has pasted away though the hunt just has'nt been the same. I own 400 acres just 8 or 9 miles south of the Peas river (I think thats the name of it, lol). My question is is whats the best way to get the hogs to come where I want them to and keep them coming.....?
