There seems to be no stopping  the number increases of Feral Hogs in the US at this time. I predict in the next 15 years they will be in almost every state where food and water can support them. Their numbers are doubling every year and they are one of the most addaptive animals to any enviroment. I take lots of in the field pics throughout year and some will be in a book coming later this year on Feral Hog Hunting. Keep knocking them down. www.redriverboars.com www.texashuntco.com  These animals are awsome to introduce kids into hunting.

how did the feral hogs nose get so long? is their russian boar thrown in there somewhere? my understanding is that at one time these were domestic hogs, but they don't look like show pigs for sure.

There is some Russian in the Heard but from what I have read and seen. The more generations that are born down from the original line tend to get longer noses, their teeth change and their Musculature in there shoulders changes as well. It just depends on how far down the line are the from the original domestics. This does not take long since they are born every six months.

I love to take in the field pics it sharpens your skills. Hunt withh a camera sometime it is a blast. Now some of these are on scouting cameras but 90% I took on my own crawling.
