Muley Madness
Category: Native Animal

This is my son Austin and his first Palo Duro Canyon Mule Deer. We put about a half mile stalk on this guy in the thickest Cedar country known to man. He made a 90 yard down angle shot and the desert Muley went only 40 yards. The expression on his face tells the rest of the story. That stalk will be one in the memory bank for a long time. The bucks have just started rutting in the last two days of the season. The work really began when I had to get the deer about 2000 yards to the nearest road in the dark. I am still trying to recover from that. Sorry for the Blood but  it was pitch black when I took The photo and I did not notice it untill later. Lung/Heart shot=Down.Good job little D

I took this old Muley yesterday Morning with my son at my side. The buck had part of a bush in his rack when I saw him. The old boy was also blind in his right eye do to a previous injury sometime in his past. www.redriverboars.com
