USA Shooting and GunBroker.com are announcing a month-long, online auction of guns and other USA Shooting related items to benefit the USA Shooting Team. The announcement was made jointly by Buddy DuVall, USA Shooting Director of Marketing, and Steve Urvan, President and Founder of GunBroker.com.

An early and abundant acorn crop, combined with new growth of native vegetation may force Texas deer hunters to stray from supplemental food sources during the 2009-2010 general deer season, which opens Nov. 7.

Ty Chumley was due for a bit of luck after losing his home and most of his belongings to Hurricane Ike.  Chumley, a tugboat operator from Nederland, bought one chance in this year’s Big Time Texas Hunts Grand Slam category; it was the first time he’d ever entered. He won.

A new system in Texas state parks that are part of the World Birding Center network in the Lower Rio Grande Valley will allow bird watchers to record their sightings and use an online, interactive database to see what other birders have reported, creating a continuously updated record of bird observations for each site where it is featured.

The Texas oyster season will open Nov. 1, but due to health risks there will be several areas closed to harvest. Recent heavy rains statewide and red tide events on the lower Texas coast prompted the Texas Department of State Health Services to issue closure notices for some shellfish harvesting areas, including the Galveston Bay area.

The National Guard FLW College Fishing Texas Regional Championship. The event has been relocated to Sibley Lake because of unsafe water levels on the Red River.

Wetland habitat conditions across much of Texas have gone from one extreme to another entering the October 31 waterfowl season opener in the North and South Duck Zones, creating what some waterfowl biologists see as a mixed bag for migrant birds.

Dallas Safari Club (DSC) and Ducks Unlimited are working together to strengthen the overall public reach and conservation impacts of two major sporting conventions in 2010.

2nd Annual HAVA National Family Day: Honored American Veterans Afield is hosting their 2nd Annual HAVA National Family Day.  HAVA invites disabled U.S. Veterans or active duty military and immediate families for shooting events with products from leading firearms manufacturers. Airsoft is available for youth participants.
