Golden Day For Glenn Eller

GUADALAJARA, Mex. -

Glenn Eller (Katy, Texas) began the day with 49 out of 50 targets in Men's Double Trap at the Pan American Games. Looking to add to the USA's medal count, Sgt. Eller of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit shot a perfect 50 targets in his second round and 48 targets in the third round for 147 targets-just one target shy of the world record for the gold medal.

TPWD Setting Up Voluntary Trans Pecos Mule Deer Check Stations

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists are asking hunters and landowners to bring their harvested mule deer to one of the six voluntary mule deer check stations in the Trans-Pecos region Dec. 3-4 and Dec. 10-11. Voluntary check stations will be set up during the two weekends in Culberson, Midland, Pecos, Terrell and Brewster counties.

Pvt. Ryan Kirkland of Trinity,and Pvt. Chris Higgins of Crocket, Texas, won the National Guard FLW Soldier Appreciation Tournament held on Lake Somerville Saturday. The team, fishing with National Guard College angler Jerod Hawkes from Texas A&M, Kingsville caught two bass for a total of 9 pounds, 8 ounces to take the title and bragging rights amongst their peers.
