Proposition 11 passes overwhelminglyWritten on: 11/05/2009 by: TWA
Texas -
Thank you for your support and effort to secure the passage of Proposition 11 on yesterday’s ballot. The constitutional amendment to protect homeowners and property owners from the abuses of eminent domain was approved by Texas voters by 81-19 percent, an overwhelming four-to-one margin, the largest margin of any proposition on the ballot. Texas Wildlife Association was proud to be a leading member of a statewide coalition of property rights supporters in favor of the proposition. Eight percent of Texas registered voters cast their ballot in this election. A special thank you to all TWA members, friends, and contacts who made sure these important property protections will be added to the Texas Constitution by voting in this election. Eminent domain reform was TWA’s number-one legislative priority in the 2009 legislative session. The passage of this constitutional amendment is a positive step towards achieving TWA’s ultimate policy goals. More work lies ahead, though. Here is a copy of TWA’s Fact Sheet on Eminent Domain Reform http://new.texas-wildlife.org/files/Eminent%20Domain,%202-09.pdf With your support and what appears to be strong support from Texas voters, our organization will continue to pursue those property rights protections that are essential to Texas’ future.
