Sometimes, getting a new lease on life means moving on. We were on a lease in west Texas that was getting worse, not better. We decided to leave it, even with all the improvements we had made, and find something else. After hours of searching, a ton of emails and phone calls, we found one that looked promising. During our first visit there, we could not get our checkbooks out fast enough.

The old lease had a few javelina, some turkey, and a dwindling number of whitetails. The new lease has whitetail, hogs, aoudad, fallow, axis, and elk. It also has a springfed creek that is great for cooling off in the summer heat.

We've fixed the place up a little, adding new electrical wiring on the cabin, and a water retrieving system. The feeders and blinds are in place, and we are seeing lots of game.

In just the past two weekends, we've harvested two really nice aoudad, and three hogs. In a couple of weeks, we are going back for more.

We were reluctant to leave the other place, but feel we made the right decision. Sometimes in life, you just need some change. We sit around the campfire at night and everyone is amazed at the difference in the two leases. We know a few guys who are not happy where they are at, but just can't make the decision to change.

Here's some advice from an old guy. If things aren't working out, try something new. It works in hunting and it works in life. That "new lease on life" thing can be pretty rewarding.

Nice!!! I hear that change can sometimes be a good thing, at our lease, some of the memebers have been hunting there for 20 years and change comes slowly!!!
