My First Deer Hunt by Sydney Alexandra Parrish, 9 Years Old

Hello. My name is Sydney. My first hunt was on November 9th. I shot my first deer with a crossbow. It was pretty exciting! I was with my Dad, Jason Parrish. We saw a lot of deer. Finally we saw a beautiful doe. I kept asking my Dad to see if I lined it up correctly. Then, I shot!

After I shot, I asked my Dad if I hit it, he said “YES!” I felt so proud of myself! We waited a long time, then Dad unzipped the tent and helped me out. When we went to see the deer, we only had to track it 100 feet. It was in the weirdest position!!! It looked like it was still alive, but to prove it was dead my Dad poked it's eyeball.

wow, it is so exciting watching your daughter shoot their first deer is'nt it. watch out deer, lots of 10 year old girls will be in the woods again next year!!!

How exciting this must have been! Success on your very first hunt is truly newsworthy. Sydney, you are obviously a natural "huntess", and quite the champion.  I'll bet your dad was almost as excited as you were. Congratulations on a great story and on your success.  Hunting with a Crossbow is not the easiest of skills to learn. Good job and great deer!
