What is it about the beach? Any beach? For those of us who have seen the emerald waters of unpolluted beaches in romantic foreign countries, the murky brown water of Galveston is hard to swallow...

We could learn a lesson from my children. They were so appreciative and excited to play in the sand and waves, ignoring the occassional plastic bottle and jellyfish sting.

We stayed at the Pointe West Oceanfront Resort & Club, on the westernmost tip of Galveston Island. It was a great place to take the family and enjoy a weekend.

We walked on the beach, made sand "angels" with our bodies, showed the kids how to use a boogie board, searched for sand dollars, pirate treasure and other sea shells.

We talked about all the different ways to enjoy the beach as we watched other people camping, riding ATVs, surf fishing, kayak fishing, casting bait nets, using metal detectors, and just having fun.

One day we visited Moody Gardens and enjoyed touring the Aquarium Pyramid, Rainforest Pyramid, and the very impressive Titanic Exhibit with photos, videos and artifacts from and about the sinking of the Titanic.

All in all, another great weekend.

I felt as though a couple of shots were taken by Belly Force. Just a couple though.

Looks like y'all had a great time! Galveston might have brown water, but it's ALWAYS fun!

Jason,My wife had a H.E.B. conference in Galveston in mid-July.My daughter and I tagged along. We stayed at the Hilton off SeaWall Blvd.We arrived on July 16th and left on the 19th.My daughter really enjoyed the beach. On friday morning, the high tide was at 7:15a.m.I crossed the street from the hotel and started flyfishing.I'd never flyfished the surf before, but I just wanted to enjoy the green water and no waves.I fished for 2 1/2 hours and caught 8 keeper trout on an olive & white clouser. The biggest being 17 1/2.Unfortunately I kissed them and released them all because we had rented a van to bring are luggage and H.E.B. supplies for my wife's meetings.Flyfishing is all I've been doing sincewe moved to San Antonio 7 years ago.I never have caught 8 keepers with bait or plastics.Flyfishing is awesome!
