Rancho Seco Hunting AdventureWritten on: 01/02/2008 18:43 by: stljwk#41
My Dad and I just returned from Robstown Texas. We received a wild boar/dove/fishing trip for Xmas from my step-mom. Captain George White was our guide, and we hunted on the Rancho Seco Ranch. When we arrived on Saturday we first purchased our tags for the hunt. We then headed to the ranch where Captain George gave us a tour of the Ranch. The Rancho Seco is 3000 acres of land filled with wild game. We not only witnessed lots and lots of wild boar, but tons of whitetail deer too! While checking out the ranch we came across a real nice pig. Captain George let us know that it was a nice boar, and it was a shooter. My dad made a great shot and dropped the boar at about 60 yards. We headed back to camp to gut the hog and get 'em hanging in the walk in cooler. Later that afternoon we headed out to try and get a boar for myself. I wanted a predominantly black russian hog, so we headed towards one of the 7 feeders on the property. Along the way we stopped and Captain George asked me what I wanted to do. I looked through his binoculars and about 500 yards away was a heard of wild boar in an open field. I told Captain George lets do a stalk. Captain George and I walked down a field about 200 yards and crossed under some barbed wire fencing, into the filed where the pigs were rooting. Once we entered the field Captain George and I crawled another 150-200 yards where I was able to take a real nice boar at about 100 yards. I made a real nice shot on the hog, where he took about 10 steps and went down. I just really want to thank Captain George on a great hunt. He's a great guide and will go to whatever extreme to try and get a nice hog for someone. The stalk was incredible, and I'm so proud of my pig. I highly recommend Captain George to anyone looking to take a nice boar. He's so passionate about wild boar hunting, that it definetely rubs off on you! The rest of the trip was amazing too. Captain George is a hard-worker and is willing to work with you in order to make your trip special. Unfortunately the fish weren't really biting the day we went, so Captain George went and bough some clay pigeons and we shot trap that afternoon. He's very accomodating. We also went dove hunting our last day there. Captain George's intensity was still present. He was determined to help each one of us get our limity. We worked the fields all day and ended up with 20 nice doves. My dad and I had a wonderful time, and we'll never forget our wonderful hunting adventure at the Ranch Seco Ranch. Thanks Captain George and good luck to you! Sincerely, Jay Kriegesmann Sr. Jay Kriegesmann Jr. Comments:
