Texas TrioWritten on: 08/29/2007 13:56 by: tmorganI invited a friend and his son to my small Texas ranch near Jacksboro, TX for their first Spring turkey hunt. Neither of them had been Spring turkey hunting or ever harvested a turkey. I set them up in a blind near a wheat field that morning and I was nearby doing the calling. We had a couple of birds respond but not close enough for a shot. They were so excited just to see and hear the gobblers. We set up in another field that afternoon and I was getting a response from a gobbler when I got another response from at least two birds coming from another direction. I could tell they were approaching fast so I told the guys to get ready. They agreed that the son would take the first shot. Shortly, three young gobblers began approaching our decoys. When they were in range the son fired a shot. I would not have believed this if I hadn't seen it but he dropped all three gobblers with one shot! This was an unforgettable experience for all of us and what hunting is all about.
