A friend of mine invited me to walk a ranch near Brownwood that he was looking at buying. I just love being outdoors in Texas! The ranch was 1200 acres high fenced. The story about the ranch was that the previous owner was a breeder who had let loose a number of northern strain whitetail deer and elk on the property. I have not been close to many elk in Texas. It was pretty interesting to find antler drops, see some elk in velvet, and inspect animal tracks up close.
