Additional InformationOverview: Moody Ranch Outfitters offers Deer , Duck, Dove, Quail, Hog, and Varmint Hunts as well as Fishing excursions for Bass and Catfish on our 5000+ acre ranch in central Texas. Along with hunting we also offer a Sporting Clay Course and Lodge facilities for your next family or corporate gathering. Our Lodge can accommodate up to 22 overnight guests. Moody Ranch Outfitters offers over 5,000+ acres of exciting and beautiful hunting property with rolling hills, flooded timber, and prairies in the Navasota River bottom. Located in Historic Grimes County, Moody Ranch Outfitters offers you the opportunity to hunt standing marshes in low water lying areas. These areas are prime locations for some of the best fowl hunting, deer and wild hog hunting around. White tail deer are native and are easily found here on our low-fenced ranch. During season we often offer deer specials and or hog specials especially for youth hunters. Corporate or bulk packages of 10 or 20 hunts may be purchased, depending on availablity. Hunt here at Moody Ranch and never have to take the time to fill a feeder or worry about buying or building a stand or all the other expenses and frustrations that come from other hunters on your lease that make your deer hunting a burden! If Upland Fowl is your game then come on over and check out our 600+ acre upland prairie where we hunt pen-raised Quail. We take pride in that our hunts are so real that you would hardly notice that you are on a pen-raised hunt. Good dogs and excellent guides make for a great hunt! A 10-station Sporting Clay Range where you get 50 shots per round is avaiable year-round! Stations include fliers and rabbits! On Site accommodations for guests of Moody Ranch Outfitters are centrally located and include the Moody Family Homestead and the restored school house that we refer to as the Lodge Complex. The 98+ year old ranch style home and 100 year-old school house are located on the Gibbons creek bottom and are completely restored and updated to include central heat and air. With plenty of space to unwind you will enjoy a large screened in porch with ceiling fans, 60 X 42 pavilion, or satellite television. But your favorite spot might be on the oversized front porch where you can sit and enjoy the end of the day watching the sunset on the Gibbons Creek Bottom. Connected to the house and the Lodge Complex by a covered walkway is an air conditioned Mess Hall where we prepare all meals for you in a relaxed country atmosphere. Over the years the Moody Family has enjoyed the thrill and challenges of hunts along the Navasota River and would like to offer you the same. Come home to Moody Ranch! This hunt begins at sunset and ends four hours later. We will be hitting known feeding spots and game trails throughout the ranch during your four hour tour. Things to bring on this hunt are: Rubber Boots, Gloves, a light Jacket, flashlight, and Rifle that is a minimum of .243 caliber and shooting no less than 100 grain bullet. We do not allow hand guns or bow hunting on this hunt. Our Dove Hunts are all day hunts. You arrive at the Lodge Complex the morning of your hunt and we will take your group out to the field. You will then have the opportunity to come back to the lodge for Lunch in the hot part of the day or hang out and then return for an afternoon hunt as well. TPWD has released our hunt dates for Dove. This year first season is September 1 - October 30, 2008 and second season begins December 26, 2008 - Jan 4th 2009. Quail Hunts Moody Ranch Outfitters also has a 350 acre course dedicated to our Upland Fowl Hunts. Our hunting season for Upland Fowl is from mid-October to the middle of March. We offer you the best pen raised birds in a natural setting for the optimal hunting experience. Please note that MRO requires all participants to wear orange vests during our Upland Hunts. We have Vests for sale in the Pro Shop if you do not own a vest.
