The best way to hunt hogs at granger lake is to take a boat up the San Gabrial river to more remote hunting sots that don't get alot of foot traffic. there is a small boat launch at unit #7 and a boat ramp for larger boats at Willis Creek park. If you don't have a boat you can allways find hogs in the brush between units #6 and #7.. Good luck and will probably see you out there.. PS. after jan 31 you can bait hogs. soured corn works real good..

I allways park at #6 and walk toward #7 but both areas are good.

If you are looking to gun hunt for hogs the public hunting area off of hwy 7 in Robertson county has alot of hogs and you can hunt them until mid march I believe. I can't remember the unit number but it is between kosse and marquez.

Well I just got back from hunting at #6 this evening. What I usually do is follow a trail untill I get to a thicket then I slowly walk the edge paying close attention to the middle of the thicket that is where they usually bed.. I saw 2 big hogs around 3:30 but didn't get a shot.. saw several deer to bad you can't hunt deer out there.

Yeah, i counted 18 deer that I saw.  Do you go by yourself?

By the way, I started at 7.

When I went sunday my 2 sons were with me my best friend and his son and another good friend of mine and his daughter so we had a party of 7. We parked at 6 and walked toward 7 usually there are not so many people with me.

We will have to meet up sometime i might go tomorrow not sure yet. my buddy just shot #120 boar out there at about noon today. we usually go in a group but you are more than welcome to join us any time.

Did you make it out to Granger tonight?  I was planning on going, but it was too nasty.  I'm taking a trip to Bandera for some pig/aoudad hunting next weekend.  I'm pretty fired up.

We had a good weekend...saw 2 pigs, but couldn't get a shot...also saw a nice 8-point and several does and an aoudad (couldn't get a shot at him either).  Did you have any luck on Saturday?

I did not go this weekend ..I was planning to go but found a real good deal on a boat to use in the river.. so I spent the weekend working on it. I'm going to take it up the river to some of the more remote spots.. I'm not going to make it next weekend I'm on call at work..good to hear you had a good time.. talk to ya later!

Sorry I didn't get back to you till now, I've been lokking for a new job and the weather has been nasty. My buddy shot another hog last weekend.. How do you like that legacy?

I love it!  Where did he shoot it?  Does he hunt during day or at dawn/dusk?  I'm going out tomorrow.

I have property on the north side of the Robertson County Public hunting Area, Unit 607 and have been wondering how to use the area to hunt and would love to Hog Hunt it.  Do you know if I have to purchase a special license to hunt there and do you have any good tips for hunting hog.  You are right, there's a ton of hog in that area and we get a lot on our land, I just have never hunted hog and am not sure of the proper/idea method of hunting them.  I have a relative up there that traps them, but he might get made if I shot his trappings.  Look forward to hearing from ya.
