DOG

This past Saturday, went over to Bass Pro for the Hunter's expo that was going on.  Saw the water dog competition going on - the one with the long dock and the pool for the jumping dogs.  There was a long line of people and their dogs; maybe 90% labs and sonofagun if I didn't had Dusty (my yellow lab)  in the back with me.  The guard waved us through the "competitor parking only" sign when  he saw Dusty and we parked, put her leash on and we got in line with the other dogs.  It was a practice session so anyone (or any dog I should say) could jump.

On her first jump, I threw her deac and she headed down the ramp like a pro, got to the end and SCREEEEECCCHHH!!! hit the brakes.  She stayed there eyeing the deac for about 30 seconds and to the rousing applause of the 30 or spectators, jumped after it.  On her second attempt, she stopped for just a second or two and then jumped.  On the third attempt, she slowed and then jumped - maybe 5 or 6 feet this time.

Its 60 miles from my house to BassPro, but we went down again on Sunday.  Her best jump was about 7 feet or so.  She'll never win a medal but man that is a hoot!  I enjoyed about as much as she did.

One of the funny moments came from a choc lab named Boudreau - he jumped but wouldn't go to his master to get out - he like to swim around the pool with the deac in his mouth while his master got pretty red in the face yelling at him to come - was in the pool for at least 5 minutes.  Thought the guy was going to have a heart attack.

Only a dog named Boudreau, right ?????

Get some pics if you can next time.  There is nothing like watching your own dog work.  I sure miss the bird dog my brother had back in college.

Thats sweet ICM!!!!  I cannot wait until I get Waco ready for some fun like that. How far did the winner jump? Did you hear the duck calling contest?  I ahve always wanted to blow a call in one of those things.  Not that I am that good but I just love calling ducks.   Well cannot wait to see the pics.  I am glad I decided not to name Waco, Boudreaux! LOL

The winner jumped just over 17 feet - awesome display.i had watched the espn2 competition and there were a bunch of dogs going well over 20 feet.  Being at a smaller regional competition is much different - very informal atmosphere, everyone is very friendly, all the dogs were wagging their tails.  No real feeling of competition, just out there to help.

Missed the duck calling competition.  Had wanted to here it but I work some on Saturday.

Guess Boudreaux is out of the doghouse by now!!!!LOL

Hope I can get this to come up.
