DOG

Hey guys-

got a question for yall! My best friend has recently got a weimrainer and he has havin problems trainin the dog bc of the level of hyper activity in the dog. I told him that that breed of dog is naturally like that and that he just needs to get used to it. I also suggested that he should neuter his dog bc ive always been told that will calm him down. What do u guys think about that? Got any other suggestions i can offer him?

I had a friend with a weimeraner several years ago.  It takes them longer to go through the puppy stage than other breeds but they are intelligent dogs and once through that immature stage can do you a pretty good job.  They can be pretty impressive hunting dogs when trained well.

I question whether neutering would have much to do with calming it down - I have heard the same things from others but have peersonally never seen it make much difference.  Lord knows I could be wrong here, so maybe your friend should talk with a vet about it before turning that poor dog into a suprano.

Reminds me of the Farside cartoon where the dog was hanging out the back window of the car talking to another dog saying, "and then my master says I'm going to get tutored..." ;-)

Good hunting.

Hey Logan,

Tell your friend not to worry, I had a dog similar to the Weimrainer, it was a German Shorthair Pointer and she was extremely hyper. This dog turned out to be the best hunting dog I have ever had it just takes some patience and work. The list of dogs I have owned is as follows, English Setter, Brittany, then another English Setter, A Lab/German Shorthair Mix, then the  German Shorthair Pointer full blood, finally a Lab. I do not have a dog at this time, I got kids instead and they make great retrievers. lol
