BP issued a long-awaited investigative report that says a complex series of failures and bad decisions -- by itself and other companies -- led to the deadly Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in April.

The report, four months in the making, boils the investigation down to eight key findings.  The British oil giant says tests on the drilling well were incorrectly assessed by BP and its drilling partner, Transocean, and that a key cement job on the drilling well was poorly done.  These failures and others led to hydrocarbons running up the well, eventually causing the rig to explode into a massive blow torch.

The finding, posted on BP’s website, also fingers Transocean workers, who BP said “failed to recognize and act on the influx of hydrocarbons into the well.”

I think the problem was that BP was rushing to get the well up and producing and did not take the proper precautions.

If it was a private party leasing the land to BP.. some lawyer would go for the leasor as well if he had deep pockets. The federal government never takes any responsibility..

Don't forget Haliburton the company that was in charge of blowout prevention on this well and who by chance purchased their first Oil Spill Recovery Company just days before the rig exploded. Things that make you go HMMMMMM??? Seem to find these republican leaders with their hands in every dirty cookie jar.
