I hunt with a bow and have shot two hogs this year that I didn't find.  Both shots looked to be good shots but I followed blood of both for several hundred yards before it rained and dark set in.  Does anyone have any Hog Anatomy diagrams they could pass along.  I saw one on the internet and according to it my shots were in the lung area.  Thanks for any response guys.

Texasboars.com has some good stuff on pig anatomy. You might check their site out.

Check out texashoghunter.com, but the best place for shot placement on a hog is right through the ear or just behind it on a side view!!!

Thanks Gustavo, but what about with an arrow.  The last little porker I shot, about 80/100 lbs. was shot about midway up the sholder, turned toward me just slightly.  It looked like an almost perfect lung shot but the little pig ran over to the rest of the group and then they all walked off.  I followed good blood bright red not like from lungs so I don't think it hit lung.  It was fairly open country with grass and brush.  I followed blood for about 1/2 mile then the rain set in and lost the trail.  It was obviously not a good hit but it was right were I was aiming.  I will shoot lower on the next one and see if that works better.  If you were shooting with a bow where would you aim?

heres some cut away pictures and  an old pen and ink from the 1800's

as you can see with the gristle shield and the legbone and the heart position a quartering away through the lungs and into the heart is  the money shot

hope this helps!

Ynnek,  Excellent pictures.  After looking at what you sent and what I found on the internet it looks like my shots were a little too far back and probably only got one lung and more than likely a liver shot, thus the long trailing job.  When I get another chance at one of these hogs I am going to aim just above the elbow and wait for the quarter away shot.  I don't care if these are considered vermin in most cases I still do not like to have them run very far.  I have a medium size boar coming to one of my feeders and I am going to try and get out there one day this week for a shot at him.  He is hitting the feeder right at dark as seem on the trail cam pic.

Thanks again,
