I have what I believe to be a K96 Spanish Mauser in 7X57, and was wondering if it is a good candidate for conversion to 257 Roberts.

Should be fine as long as the receiver and bolt are in spec and the new barrel is headspaced correctly.  In other words, the 96 action should be strong enough for the 257 Roberts and the frame rails and feed ramp should not have to be modified to feed reliably.

HAPPY

Hey new to the forum here and just saw your post.  I have a 96 Mauser action fitted with an ER Shaw stainless barrel in 257R and it shoots 100gr sierra gamekings into a half inch group all day long.  You wont be disappointed.
