Happy Thanksgiving!  The turkey is a staple on our dinner table this week, and the wild turkey was a staple throughout November in the TWA Conservation Legacy L.A.N.D.S. distance learning program.

November was a record month for the Texas Wildlife Association distance learning program!

With Thanksgiving on the calendar horizon, teachers and students wanted to know more about the wild turkey in Texas – its anatomy, its habitat, and the “calls” or vocalizations that it uses to communicate.   Your TWA was there to deliver the education!

Nearly 900 2nd-6th grade students watched “Let’s Talk Turkey” delivered from the TWA studio, and nearly 3500 students watched “Turkey Talk” in November as part of the monthly “In the News” program that Connect2Texas produces for classrooms across the state. “Turkey Talk” is a TWA product that is about 15 minutes in length shorter than the regular program.

During the month, a record 4896 students tuned into TWA in to enjoy “Turkey Talk,” “Let’s Talk Turkey,” “More Than a Drop: Aquifers Uncovered,” and “Texas’ Amazing Mussels" via the distance learning equipment at the TWA headquarters office in San Antonio.

I wanted to share with you the fun turkey activities that were provided to each classroom teacher following the distance learning program (see attached pdf documents).  Perhaps, your children or grandchildren (and you, too!) will enjoy the fun activities in the coming days or weeks.

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving and holiday week.  Thank you for your leadership and service to TWA!
