Looks like a cross bow bolt  to me??? Pretty short to be anything else.....probabaly one of those folks who thimks a cross bow will shoot 100 yds. Its a shame.........

thats very sad and kinda pisses me off  if your going to shoot any kind of bow, make sure the animal dies  i know it is possible to make a bad shot with a rifle but it sure does seem like it happens more with the ple stick and string

I did not shoot this deer just got it in an email I agree very sad I just thought it was amazing this deer is still alive.

VERY UNFORTUNATE!  This also proves a point I've tried to make to folks over the years.  Lots of folks preach head and neck shots with rifle, claiming that "I'll either miss clean or kill dead".  That is a fallacy that can lead to a miserable slow death of a magnificant animal.  I have seen personally, on a couple of occassions, what can happen to a deer when a head or neck shot goes terribly wrong, it is not pretty.

Ken, you are correct. I have seen deer that were starving to death because some moron shot the lower jaw off. Sad indeed.

That's something that should have never happened.  In 2 other website I visit (Huntingpa.com  and Marylandwhitetail.com) they have also talked about seeing deer like that this year, not just crossbow bolts but full length arrows too.  I can hear the animal rights wacko's now. Sad, very sad
