You have to go to the corps of engineers office out by the dam or over in Lewisville and get a permit. I have not gotten a permit in several years, but last time I was out there it was bow only for deer/hogs...

The last permit I got there was 2 yrs ago so things might have changed.  You need a DL, Texas Hunting License, and a Hunter's Safety Card if you are not exempt.  Goto the Corp of Engineers office in Grapevine (it's between Bass Pro and The Gaylord Texas Resort).  They give you a hunting permit, a vehicle tag that you have to display when you park your car, and a map.  Go here for more info.

I just read the new guidelines for Grapevine and they are alot different than 2 yrs ago.  It looks like they instituted a lottery system and are only giving out 75 permits in the fall and 50 in the spring.  They held the lottery back in Aug/Sept so if you weren't in the lottery already I think you're out of luck for this year.  Checkout the 2009-2010 USCE hunting guide and scroll down to Grapevine.

They did away with the lottery.  Just go to the ACOE office by the dam and request a permit.

It was Lottery Deer this year (250).  All have been given out.  Migratory Bird (600) all gone., General (800).  All they have left is General which includes hog, squirrel, rabbit and Dove.
