I have had a 7mm-08 for at least ten years. I have used a number of bullets and have found that the Federal 140gr nosler partitions work really well. I really enjoy my 08. It is a great deer caliber.

I shoot a 7mm mag. When I go to sporting goods store, all they have left is a bunch of 7mm-08 ammo.  My neighbor just bought a 7mm-08 for his wife (the "wifle").  I was very surprised at how effectively it takes down a whitetail.  The entry and exit wounds were that of a 7mm Mag or 30-30.  I didn't exaclty measure, but they looked the same w/ the naked eye.  They usually shoot 140gr Remington Core-lokt.  I believe they will stepping down to 120-139gr reloads b/c they'll be getting them for free (must be nice, huh?).  It was very accurate and effective w/ those 140gr Remingtons, though.  I hope this helps a little.
