Mr. Murphy,
Thanks for you professional opinion of the animal in the pictures. We rarley find people smart enough in the whitetail industry to be able to take a picture of a whitetail deer and be able to make this type of certain observation! I think we will keep looking for that person who can do that because you obviously arent the one!! Not pen raised but thanks for showing you true judgement ability to the rest of the hunting world! Congrats!!

Mr. Johnson,
LOL, in no way a professional opinion, did I ever state that? Just an opinion form a fair chase hunter.
You posted "MONSTER DEER HUNTS FOR SALE" along with a link to your website. Your site pictures several bucks "for sale" including a buck with the connotation "SOLD", does that mean someone has already paid their money to come out and shoot it? Or has it already been shot? Is this ranch not high fenced? If not, I stand corrected and apologize for the pen raised comment!

Oh, there's always a possibility that these animals are free range, but when you advertise hunts for individual deer either you've either got a boatload of property where these animals can't possibly leave your hunting area or you have a high fence in place. I gotta go with Ken on this one - maybe they're not pen-raised but this sure doesn't appear fair chase opportunity either.
And Keelan, if that's what you want to sell you sure have every right to do that...no one's stopping you. I'm sure not interested, but maybe someone else will be, and that's OK. Either way, call your hunt what it is and don't get wadded-up if someone else doesn't approve.

Wow,
Tim and David....
I put a big deer on the site and everyone gets jealous. It looks by the photo that you two guys need to concentrate on aging your deer you shoot instead of knocking a guy with a big deer pic. I thought this was a site we all could enjoy sharing photos of deer and hunts, not argue like a bunch of little kids. I am glad you guys take so much pride in fair chase, thats armorable but I sale deer hunts to guys who want a guarentee..... Good Luck this Season....

A guaranteed kill hunt is not hunting. It is just killing. Here in America, men have fought and died to guarantee your freedom to do that if you wish, and I have no argument against that. But Keelan, in your posts, you seem awful defensive...almost as if you are ashamed to admit it is a pen raised deer. I have been hunting since I was 11 years old, yet I killed my first "wall-hanger" when I was 31. That was the best 20 year pursuit of a real trophy I could have ever asked for. I feel better about my 130 class deer that was shot fair chase than I would feel about a 160 class pen raised paid for farm animal. And I would not have changed a thing. Eveytime my Dad and I would come back empty handed He would say, "That's whey they call it hunting, not killing" The agony of defeat makes the thrill of victory that much sweeter.

Keelan, I beleive most guys and girls here hunt to watch the sun rise, the chill at day break, the first birds chirping as the woods come to life. We share this with our children and grandchildren for them to experience and develop fond memories and they will pass this tradition on long after I am no longer on this earth. When we are lucky a hawk may land beside us and consume his breakfast only a few feet away. A blue bird may land on the shaft of my arrow as I sit as still as possible. A king snake may crawl through the tree tops in search of their prey. And when we are blessed with an opportunity to see a magnificent animal much less take one to set upon our table for our families to nourish ourselves, we give thanks to God. IF I am ever meant to take such an animal it will happen in time and not because I had enough money in my checking account. It is not jealousy I have of the animals in your pictures but rather pity that they are sold by the inch for the antlers on the top of their heads and the byproduct is the meat that will go into a freezer.

TIM

man up and say its a pen raised deer...we hunt on a small piece of property (320 acres) and try our damnest to manage it. we take pride in every single animal we kill whether its a pig, spike, doe, or bucks. how good can you really feel for killing these pets. im not knockin you for making a living and having fun..life is about having fun. but you sound rediculous. good luck everyone

Gentlemen,
Lets not get into the high fenced v low fenced argument here. It is certainly not for everyone and you should not venture into that type of hunting invironment but it is a large part of managing and hunting deer in Texas at this point. It has been said that if WE as a hunting community do not STOP bickering amonst ourselve the anti hunting left is going help us do away with the sport we all love so much.
Just stand by and point fingers and watch it happen.

Keelan, Looks like to me there are some people who are jealous of not only you but also your deer. I( am on your side. It is your property, your deer and your desire to do what you want to do and you are able to do it. Keep on keeping on. Buck

Buck, don't get me wrong. I believe it IS his property, and he has EVERY right to do what he wishes with it. That does not mean I have to like it, and it does not mean I have to keep my mouth shut either. I am headed to Oklahoma for my fair chase (all my hunts are fair chase) bowhunting trip. Chances are, I will not come home with venison, however, I will have a great time with my brother in law.
Wish us luck!

guys!!!! i thought i would stay out of this one, but here goes! ken does have every right to raise and sell deer. tim has the right to do all his hunting fair chase. my question to tim would be ...do you eat beef that was raised in a pen??? do you eat chicken that was raised in a pen??? do you eat pork??? do you us cover sent, attractants, etc. ken never said he was selling a free range monster, so come on guys ...give him a break. and as someone else said...we should band together before the antis blow us off the map. happy huntin how ever you do it!

In Texas deer do NOT belong to the landowner PERIOD. They belong to me as much as the next citizen of this state. I do not know what the laws are in Kansas. Yes he has a right to buy deer and sell them as it pertains to the laws of the state where he is doing business. My position is that "selling deer by the inch" is ruining hunting. It sends the message that horns are more important (and valuable) than the life of an animal and this will ruin hunting, and I like to hunt. Now as for beef the price of my t-bone, it is NOT based on the horns on an animal's head now is it! FYI I arrowed a deer in TEXAS last year low fence and free range on PUBLIC LAND no less that would be very compatible with the deer pictured in this thread. My cost on that animal....$100.00 for the permit fee.
