I was thinking 130-ish. Give him another year or two at least.

Here is a picture of this same buck last November.  He is definitely a mature buck and is a prime canidate to be culled on our lease this season.

Here is another buck I am considering trying to take.  I have never shot a PY buck and am trying to determine if one of these guys will get me one in the book.  It seems like a very close call...perhaps even too close without getting them on the ground...

He does have longer brow tines...

I think he'll maybe gross 120" but the net will take away some.  That's the one thing I don't like about scoring!  I think a deer grows whatever amount of inches then he should be credited for ALL those inches!

Thanks for your input Murphy.  I could not agree more about scoring!  I was also thinking about scoring in terms of a buck's antler mass.  It seems like the mass is really given the least credit in scoring, but ought to account for more, since it is a feature throughout the antlers.  I kind of wish that the antlers could be measured in weight, it seems like the overall weight of a set of antlers would probably best determine overall amount of antler growth, but it would also be a more boring way to score.

I am just hoping to get me a PY buck at some point soon.

Oh, and my buddy thinks the second buck might score better.  He got some video footage of the second buck and watched him for a while at about 15-20 yards.

On the first buck, I'm gonna say  43" tines, beams 40", spread 17", mass 29" = 129" gross.

It would be close, but, I don't think he'll net P&Y as a 9 pt.
