Join the fun at the HOW family picnic this Saturday NOLTE ISLAND, SEGUIN, TX - Heroes on the Water will be hosting a picnic for wounded soldiers and their families this Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM - 6 PM. The event will be held on Nolte Island, located on the Guadalupe River near Seguin, TX. Volunteers and friends of the program are encouraged to join the festivities.
Soldiers and their families will be traveling from the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood to attend. The day's events include kayak and bank fishing, a fishing contest for kids, food and beverages. Special musical guest James Pardo will perform on stage from 1 - 4 PM.
"We are looking forward to getting the soldiers' families more involved in the HOW program. The families often get lost in the desire to help the soldiers. HOW has made a commitment to hold events for the families, including large events like this as well as our regular kayak fishing outings," HOW National Director Jim Dolan said. "Kayak fishing is a great way for families to see Dad or Mom in a laid back environment where everyone is equal and having fun."
