IDEA

just nailed a peanutbutter jar lid to a tree near my feeder, screwed to top in and cut the bottom out. A old timmer told me it works, has anyone had any sucess wiith this, or tried it for that matter. My theory is never hurts to try something new!

Only thing I attracted with peanut butter was coons. Had my trail cam set up and saw that the deer didn't even notice it. I had the jar tied to my feeder tripod leg. I had heard the same thing you did, and maybe for someone, one deer showed interest, but didn't work for me. Use the peanut butter in my coon traps, now that works. Check out my "relocating coons" pictures. Those went for peanut butter. You are right tho, doesn't hurt to try it and see if it works for you in your area.

ANTLERS

I did this same thing at my place, but we did it to distract the coons away from the feeders. I did notice in one picture that the deer were eating it as well. So my experiences show that it attracts deer and coons... but more effective on the coons...

A few years ago I put about two hundred pounds of shelled peanuts in my feeder. Had deer every where. When that ran out I put peanut butter out. (crunchy) It was the best deer repelant I could have had.

OKAY

" It was the best deer repelant I could have had."

Doh! I guess that answers that.

tried it once, a spoonful of peanut butter in the field in front of our stand about 75 yards out..  absolutely brought deer in, straight to it like a laser beam

my son was with me and thought it was the funniest thing...

tried it again in the same place, no results

later, we were discussing it and he told me the first time it was "organic" peanut butter, you know the kind where the oil seperates and you have to stir it up

2nd time was just Jif, or whatever was on hand

I head the same thing about peanut butter so I tried it in Ozona last year.  Everyone laughed at me and my "experiments".  I shot a very nice 7 point (formerly an 8 point) who was after the peanut butter.  On a nother stand I did the same thing.  All it did was attract the cows so bad the tore my feeder pen to get to the peanut butter but their huge tounges could not fit in the jar.

I had it at my place in colorado county for 3 weeks and NOTHING!!!! had camera running the whole time with over 500 pictures eating the corn next to it but not one deer even sniffed the peanut butter!!!! so screw it will never use that again. so far buck jam, and liquid molasses work the best. seems like the sweet liquid stuff works for me

HAPPY

I have talked to several old timers that hunt in central Georgia that swear by the peanut butter trick. I am hesitant to try it as it is considered "bait" in Georgia and don't want to be unethical. From what I have been told, it works.
