We have found while viewing or game camera that we have good numbers of SIKA deer. Three of them are mature bucks with good antlers and body mass. Two buck are darker, nearly black in color, one, this one is the largest of the three is a bit lighter in color and it has spots on the rear hind quarters.

What i would like to know from those with experience, are SIKA deer good table fare?

I shot one two years ago, the meat did have a different smell about it which did come across in the cooked meal a little.  Nothing that would prevent me from eating them again, but it was just something different.  Almost smells as if the animal comes seasoned for making sausage already, kind of like it's got garlic or something already applied, something pungent.   I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about as soon as you start to process one.

Not as good as axis but still good. The smell is different.
