QUESTION

I have a general hunting lease question.  From the ranch owners standpoint what kind of minimum liability insurance does there need to be?  Does a disclaimer/release of liability built into the hunter's lease protect the landowner or is further legal protection required.

Does anyone have any input or reccomendations?  Appreciate your help!

That's a tough one, because the insurance amount, and even whether landowners require it, is all over the board.  Based on experience with with contracts in other areas there are a million-and-one ways of writing a liability clause...which can be either weighted in favor of the landowner or the lessee, and that affects the effectiveness of the clause.  There is a pretty good discussion of the issues here, as well as some guidelines for insurance amounts.

This is legal-schpeegle, but that's what happens when you get into agreements like this.  Frankly, if it is that big of an issue I'd grab my wallet and sit down with a lawyer.

Yeah their literally are a million ways of writing a clause. I've read that document and searched all over and have yet to find what a fair price is for insurance.  Just need the minimum amount of liability coverage and have no real idea on even a ballpark figure.  Thanks for your help though David.
