What's the deal with buying ammo?

I went to the local Academy to buy a box of 30-30 ammo and they were completely sold out!  Anyone have any idea why this is?  They had all the other normal caliber's, .270, 30-06, 7mag, etc.  The only caliber they didn't have was 30-30.

I don't now whether 30-30 fits this situation, but some ammo is still hard to get from the buying spree that took place in anticipation of Obama's trying to put the hammer down on the decond amendment.  Its not as bad as it used to be, but some types are still hard to get.

Try finding some on line through Gunbroker.com, Cabelas, or even some gun shops with online capabilities like First Stop Gun Shop in South Dakota.  I've found, with the exception of Cabela's, that their prices can be better than what I could buy retail, if you get several boxes at a time.

My son works for Bass Pro Shop and he says that ammo is sold as soon as it hits the shelves. Customers say because of what is coming down the pike from the current administration. My ammo of choice is the 22, I enjoy plinking at my property and I don't have to float a loan to do it, but it is still expensive, 17 bucks for a brick of 525 rounds. My brother has a 40-mag and he has to pawn his first born everytime he wants to buy a box of 20.

Academy is usually low on their ammo along with Wal-mart..But i shoot in Odessa Texas but am taking classes in Lubbock so every chance I have between classes i run to Academy, Gander and Sharp shooters..If you get their early enough u may get a chance to but a few bricks before everyone else does...but now i have gotten into the habit of buying ammo even when im not low so i can it have it when i need it
