Hear that turkey gobble? Many areas of East Texas are starting to hear turkeys again, and that is a good thing. Many hours of work and quite a few dollars have gone into restoring the wild turkey to this part of the world. Texas youth have an opportunity to learn a lot about turkey, as well as bobwhite quail, at the Feathered Forces. This five day camp will be held July 28-August 1 at the Hill Top Camp and Conference Center on Highway 59 between Nacogdoches and Garrison. You must be 13-17 years of age and apply by July 15th.

Feathered Forces is part of the Texas Brigades, a statewide organization whose mission is to empower high school youth with the necessary skills and knowledge in wildlife and fisheries, habitat conservation, land and water stewardship, team-building, communication, and leadership to become ambassadors for conservation in order to ensure a sustained wildlife and fisheries legacy for future generations. This is the 17th year of the Brigades.

Applications may be downloaded off of the Texas Brigades website.
