Don't know, but if you do, please let me know when you are going so I can be sure to get out of the county. Ever 22 cal bullets will travel far and KILL at long range.

I don't remember coons being a game animal. So if they are not, an airgun is good.

    • A landowner on their own land or their authorized agent is not required to have a trapper’s or hunting license if these nuisance animals are taken while causing loss or damage to agricultural crops, livestock, poultry, or personal property. However, such animals or their pelts may not be possessed or sold.
    • Note: All laws and regulations governing hunter education still apply.

I Coonhunt with Hounds in Sabine County. I called Texas Parks and Wildlife and asked what gun is legal, they said in my County its a .22 Rimfire. I use a Stainless Ruger Single Six .22 Mag. Works very well, but carry some Ear Plugs in your pocket.

These are my Treeing Walker Hounds, PR, Netherys Sara Pearl, and Nethery's Log Woods Chester. I hunt them in the Sabine National Forrest, and the Moore Plantation. Both Good Hounds, but Chester is kind of ate up with arthritus, and old age now. Many a Coon has fell to these two hounds. Im thankfull for such a beautifull place to hunt. Thanks Texas Parks and Wildlife. Your Forrest are Beautifull.

    Wizer Dude

You are completely wrong about not being able to hunt furbearers at night on public land. Look it up for yourself, its legal in the Moore Plantation, The Banister Wildlife Management area, the Sabine National Forrest and the Sam Houston National Forrest. Buy an anual Public Hunting Permit, type two Permit, and they will send you a map book, its shows the legal game by management area. Also read the furbearing animal Digest, that you get when you buy your Trappers license. Good hunting.

    Hi,

Did you guys get anything going on the coonhunt near Dallas, TX?  I would like to go and see if it would be worth getting another dog.  Right now, I only have a Redbone/Lab cross and she hasn't been hunting (with a human) for a long time.
