Seventy students from Blooming Grove Elementary School took their classrooms outside during their April 24th field investigation at the 77 Ranch, owned and operated by Gary and Sue Price. While visiting the area named "Black Land Prairie," students learned about native plants, turkeys, their habitat, soil, nest predation, and even had the opportunity to try their hand at radio telemetry. Although many of the students spend their time outdoors, they still learned many new things. For example, one student told us, "I didn't know turkeys slept in trees."

The Learning Across New Dimensions in Science (L.A.N.D.S), program gives students the opportunity to learn about wildlife, conservation, water, private lands, and why it is so important to be a good land steward. A big Thank You goes to several volunteers and educators that helped make this field trip happen; Gary and Sue Price, Sharri Harris, Kristy Oates, Tonoher Johnson, Brian Gregory, Nathan Paul, Derek Scasta, Jay Whiteside, Jimmy & Debbie Stewart and Justin Dreibelbis.
