I'm finally getting around to pulling some video off of the tons of video I have. This is my oldest daughter's first buck. This an old main frame 6 that needed to go. I had seen this buck one other time during the season but he was a bit smarter than we were. I had also seen him cross the road we are sitting on a couple of time too, so we decided to try something a little different and see if we could be successful. Well the video speaks for itself and with my .300 Ultra Mag in hand, she made pretty short and easy work of the situation and how about that shot for your first deer. 228 yards! Now that is confidence for an 11 year old!!

Great job to that young lady. You must be a proud poppa. That is one heck of a first deer and a great shot at that distance. There are plenty a grown folks that couldn't have made that shot. Now if you can get momma goin' a huntin' you will have it made.

Fantastic buck. I would take one like that every season even though he is a cull by most of ya'lls standards.

Thanks James and Tim,
I can remember my first buck. It was a young 4 point. I was thrilled. I am glad that I have the opportunity to expose my children to some nice deer and give them the opportunity to experience the outdoors from a better vantage point that I did. For some reason, I'm not sure they appreciate as much as I did though. The world today is filled with too much stuff.

Congratulations Dean and Allison. Great deer, especially for a first buck...and especially with a .300 Ultra Mag at 228 yards!

Thanks David. Jjealousy is a bad thing isn't it Mr. Dick. First and foremost I believe the law talkes about moving vehicles and shooting from the road (public road that is) feel free to send this to as many game wardens as you would like. Second there are hunting rigs all over the state and whether you like it or not. Third and most important, this is my ranch in Mexico on a private road and I will hunt my deer any damn way I feel like it within local laws and jurisdictions.

Dean,
Don't know how many of NYYankee/rwg15/Dick/Richard's posts you've read, but don't engage this guy. THF has taken most of his posts off the website, for good reason, because he has a big axe to grind and no real basis to grind it except he thinks he's right about feeders/stands/supplemental feeding/paying to hunt/hunting methods, etc (and 90% of what he says he can't back up)...all he's looking for is a platform to spew out the shavings. Please don't give him the opportunity - just ignore him.

jealousy is a very bad thing isn't it Dick? I like to hunt various ways. I like spot and stalk, I like hunting in a stand, I love to rattle, I even hunt on horse back when I feel like getting in to some of the rough unaccessable areas of my 17000 acres and when it comes to hunting a big 6 point that I don't want breeding my doe, then I may even set up and hunt right out of the back of my truck as the stand. This ole world is great. It's give the right to do what I want when I want. Hell I will even invite you down for a good ole fashion spot and stalk with your long bow if you want. The only criteria you have is the deer has to be a mature 6.5 YO. Dick do you know how to age a deer on the hoof? Can you tell the difference of a mature deer vs. an immature deer? If I had to bet, the answer is no, so I will even donate my time and guide you so you don't screw up and shoot to wrong deer. I will even cover your expenses and pay for everything. I tell you what, I will even drive right up to your door step, pick you up and take you down there with me. Your such a skilled hunter right??? So here's your challenge..... My ranch 17000 acres of Mexico Rugged Brush Country all low fences free roaming whitetails. The only stipulation is, the buck you shoot has to be mature. Oh and by the way, if the 17000 acres is to big and scary for you, I have another place that is 10000 acres which is a little bit smaller and not as rugged. So how about it Dick??? Are you ready to put your big bad skills to the test............ You big'ole, I only hunt with a long bow hunter you.... Come on, let's see what your really made of. If you take a matrue deer, then you can talk all the trash you want. If not then you leave this site and quit talking about something you know nothing about. DEAL??????????? It a great opportunity for you!

Dean this guy must be real tool-bag to turn down an offer like that, I'll go and pay my own way!!! DICK couldn't afford to go even if you paid his way, remember he only spends 150.00/yr to hunt(maybe in New York) but not around these parts. Plus that would require him getting off his azz and actually doing something other than sitting in front of his cpu all day stirring up crap on our website. Hey Dick, you might want to get Mom & Dad to edit your post like did when you posted on my threads, your spelling and sentences make no since at all!!! Your how old??? Grow up Yanker!!!

We understand what you think Dick! What we can't seem to understand is when you are offered a free opportunity to "Teach" us the "Proper ethical method of hunting" on some else's dime and someone else's time you just keep flappin your gums rather than showing us what you can do. Please explain something to me Dick. If you don't like the means, methods, and prices etc., why do you keep coming on this wonderful website? There are tons of things in the world that I don't think are right and I know that there are websites that have to do with all of them and ya kow what I do? I stay away from them. Why don't you do the same. I stood up for you to have an opinion but you have gotten rediculous in the continued uneducated and narrow minded assaults on people here. You should be happy I'm not the administrator because your account would be deleted now and each and everytime you came back until you had something constructive to debate. Right now not only are you beating a dead horse, you're whipping a skeleton!

Well Well Well, DICK & I finally agree on something, "Jail time for road hunters shooting from vehicles" on State, Public or County roads, Its called Poaching. Shooting from a vehicle on private property on a dirt road is perfectly legal here in Texas. DICK why dont you worry about whats going on in New York & we'll worry about whats going on here in Texas. You keep insulting us and we'll keep insulting you, fair enough???? Peace DAAAAAAADY..........

Obviously DICK isn't up to the challenge for a good old spot & stalk on a Great Mexico Whitetail. Why was the offer not a sincere offer DICK? Dean offered you everything but the kitchen sink to go out and spot and stalk some of the biggest whitetails around but under his circumstances, thats so you don't shoot the first thing that walks out. We have plenty of those types runnning around killing the first deer that walks out opening morning. Lets see, your not from Texas, you don't know how to spot & stalk, you dont know how to shoot a long bow, you dont even live in Texas & you don't even hunt, PERIOD!!!! If Deans Place is too big of an area for you to hunt, c'mon out to my place buddy, its only about a 1,000 acres. Trust me you won't get lost. Save your 150.00 you spend to hunt & go buy you some more of that rot gut beer you been living on all these years & if you take me up on my offer I'll buy you something better than that Old Milwaukee Light your having live off of. Deal Buddy??? We are buddies right??? We did agree on one thing, didn't We DICK????
GO HORNS!!!

wow, this thing really got going. I am actually in NY right now. I am glad the folks here aren't actually like Dick. The folks I do business with are very good people and overall I have had great experiences in the NY area. Mr. Higgins can't find his way out of his house much less around land to shoot deer with his "long bow".

rwg15/Dick/Richard/NYYankee,
If you're really the upright guy you say you are then what constructive purpose does continuing to go through the same series of 'subjects' for the umptygillionth time serve (and please don't use the spreading the awareness argument)? All you're doing is stirring people up, including yourself, for no substantive reason. I question the ethics of that. You've stated your case and nobody here agrees, so let's go on to something else.

MY whole point!!!! NO way you live in the United States & hunt Canadian Whitetails for 150.00/yr, if thats true sign me up and I'll even pay your way!!! I must say DICK your writing has much improved today than over the passed few weeks. I could actually read a sentence without saying to myself, WTH is he trying to say!!!! Now, Ontario is home the some of the finest whitetail hunting around so where the pics DICKY or is it just DICK??? C'mon buddy we really would like to see what a Canadian Whitetail looks like on the ground with you standing next to your trophy deer. Sounds like you kill more Labatts & Crown Royal than deer!!! Sorry if I posted too late for you last night, surely you were watching the Red Sox biggest come back in playoff history eh, or maybe you just had a long day in front of your cpu, makes me sleepy too when all I do is stare at a cpu all day too. Peace DICK. Have a great day buddy!!!!!

This guy is all over the place...first he grew-up near Rochester and hunted whitetails in the country (just outside a city of 200,000), a little while ago he said he moved to Texas and hunts whitetails on state lands, and now he says he hunts Ontario whitetails in the wilderness. He's just an agitator with a chip on his shoulder and little to back up the chip - especially when it comes to truth and facts.
Ignore him and he will (eventually) go away. The other night he got bored when nobody paid attention to what he said and tried to stir Hardy up by posting obnoxious responses to 10-12 of his posts. THF took most of them off. Now he has you guys stirred-up. Keep engaging him and you'll give him exactly what he wants - a platform to spew.

Richard/NYYankee/rwg15/Dick,
Your story keeps changing...originally you were NYYankee and just hunted the LBJ grasslands but now you go by rwg15 and say that the deer are too small....as NYYankee you hunted near Bergen, NY (which is close to Rochester, NY) but now as rwg15 you say you hunt 30 miles from there. This 'free' hunting you have espoused now costs $110-250 for a non-resident license, unless you are breaking the law, plus a $450 round-trip ticket to Yankeeland (if you fly into Buffalo, NY from DFW...a little less if you drive in 2 days). Now you say you hunt in Ontario, which costs you another $180 for a tag. Looks like your 'no-cost' hunting just cost you $740-880 before you even get started.
Your stories shift like the wind. Goodbye for now.

Richard/NYYankee/Dick/rwg15,
I hardly think your behavior on this site follows "traditional hunting values and ethics of good sportsmanship", or anything close to ethical or even intellectually honest by any definition. The fact that THF has taken off a number of your posts because of inappropriate content, not because you have a different opinion, bears testimony to that.

From all the true Texans I think I can speak for them and say congrats to all those who take there kids out to hunt and even better if they can harvest an animal. So EXCELLENT JOB Dean your a great parent and Texan we are proud to have people like you in our great state. As a parent I would be greatly offended if someone like this tried to trash a memory as precious as this, that I had tried to share with friends and friend alike. I choose not to comment on this person who has shown their true colors towards the outdoors and not having the knowledge to know that its not always about the harvest or how you harvested your animal its the memory's we gain and share from these times.
JUST A PERSONAL PREFRENSE BUT ILL TAKE A MESQUITE LEAF OVER A MAPLE ANY DAY!! and again thanks for being a great Texan and a REAL AMERICAN

Say, If act really obnoxious could I score an invite to hunt on your Mexico ranch. Let's give a try.
You's guys are all stupid deer farmers. I'm from NY and I'm the rootenest, tootenest, long bow shootenest, no spellenest, mightiest, whitest, hunter in the world. You's guys can't compare to me or the great NY deer that I've never shot so you's guys half to be deer farmers and road hunters, eh. And I drink moose piss and you's guys don't so I'm better than you's guys. And I'm really the mighty white hunter, not because I really hunt, but because I'm pasty white from sitting in front of the computer all day acting like a fly....eating crap and bothering people.
What do y'all think???Is that good enough to get invite??? PLEEEEEAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEE???
