Pheasants in the panhandle

A buddy and i are planning to hunt pheasant in the panhandle on public land  this year and would like some helpful advice on the best areas and what to expect. It will be the first time for us both. Also anyone who has participated in the community sponsored events i would really appreciate hearing about the experience or just general comments.

there are some pheasants in the lake meredith area. not many but some. good thing is you can always shoot quail also.

I hunted just in an area of the panhandle that is just south of Hardesty, OK last year. We killed quite a few birds. I can't remember the name of the town in Texas, but it was due south of Hardesty.
