I drew the holiday weekend shifts, so I will be trying my luck later this afternoon.  Looking forward to a nice batch of baked bacon wrapped, jalapeno stuffed dove breasts this weekend.  Plan to serve a nice wild rice mixture and sliced garden fresh tomatoes as a side dish.

(pardon the wetness on the screen- I'm drooling as I type)

Got my limit  both days in Canadian. Yesterday it took a couple of hours but not for lack of birds for lack of practice. Today took only an hour or so. Great hunting but damn that drive!

We had a horrible weekend in Northwestern Val Verde county. 6 inches of rain in Delrio on Friday and it moved up the Pecos and we had 2" at the ranch. Between 5 guys we got 10 birds

It took a little work but I limited out , we hunt in honey grove (west of Paris) the milo field we hunt is probably 750-1000 acres and we only had about 25 hunters. Spent most of the time walkin up big groups of doves kill a couple and walk some more.

Saturday afternoon was great.  Just me, Dad and the dogs right here by the house at our pond.

Had the limit pretty quickly, but it's so much fun watching good dogs work.

This afternoon we shot the field with some friends and it was Scary!  We just sat around the pickups and watched in awe as all the white wings poured in.  Everyone had their limit as quickly as they could load, shoot and connect.

Maybe the best opening weekend we've had as far as birds.
