Does your organization have a coastal habitat conservation, restoration or enhancement project in the 41-county area of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail that needs funding?  Read below for information on this year's Birding Classic Conservation Grant project proposal submission process.

The Twelfth Annual Great Texas Birding Classic (www.birdingclassic.org/ and www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/birding/gtbc/) offers multiple ways to receive funding for conservation projects on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. We invite your organization to submit project proposals in the amount of $20,000, $10,000 or $3,000 that fulfill the goals of the Birding Classic and are within the guidelines listed on our website (project proposal forms and proposal criteria can be found at www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/birding/gtbc/prizes/).

These proposals will be reviewed and, if approved, will become part of a pre-approved list of projects eligible to receive Conservation Grant funds.

*****Only projects that meet the posted online criteria will be accepted for consideration by our winning teams. You must meet all criteria posted in order to be considered. If you have any questions, please contact the Birding Classic staff before submitting your project.*****

You may submit the same proposal, adjusted accordingly, in multiple tiers to increase your likelihood of being chosen. In order to submit the same project in more that one of the $20,000, $10,000 and $3,000 levels, you must complete a proposal application form for each level and the included project budget must reflect the way different funding levels will be utilized in your project (i.e., what will the money go towards at the $3k level vs. the $10k level?).

If you have any questions please contact the Birding Classic staff at 512-389-4500 or by email at gtbc@tpwd.state.tx.us.

Proposals may be submitted via

fax (512-389-8029)
email - gtbc@tpwd.state.tx.us, or
mail to the Great Texas Birding Classic, 4200 Smith School Road, Austin, TX 78744.
PROJECT PROPOSALS ARE DUE BY 5:00 pm, Friday, January 11, 2008.

<NOTE: this date is significantly earlier than in previous years, so please start on your proposals soon.>
