i'm not sure what powder this guy uses that i get my re-loads from but i can find out in a day. i shoot 165 gr ballistic tip out of them and i think they shoot better than factory loads by far. you can see the difference between factory loads and re-loads. and like i said in the other post, i use federals and i think it shoots better. i shoot a .308 remington model 700 as well. like i said i'll find out more information about all the re-loads hopefully tomorrow. the guy i use is cody pennington here in brownwood where i live and i let him do the re-loading. i'll get back to you soon!

I don't reload them myself, but I shoot .308w reloads almost exclusively. I send the empty cartridges to a place in Nebraska called 3Lees Company Inc. They reload them for a fee & ship them back- usually less than 10 day turnaround (unless it is during deer hunting season). They have a website

I have a Remington 700 pss 308 that i play with at longer range usually. I load a sierra 168gr matchking bt that i molycoat myself. Fairly mild load (2650fps) of V V N-150 powder and a CCI large rifle br primer. Last time i shot it at 500 yards, put 4 shots in about 2.75". Not bad for a completely stock rifle.

Ok, try this in a newer model rifle only.
Speer Grand Slam 150gr.
BR-2 Primer
IMR 4895 powder at 48.0grains.
I've never had a deer walk away from this load. The only thing I'm changing is that when I'm out of Grand Slams I'm switching over to the Barnes TSX.
The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

Varget is probably the most popular 308 powder
I loaded 45.5g of it under a Sierra Gameking BTSP (.5 under max, start lower and work up looking for pressure signs, etc...) 2.80 COL (standard), Federal brass and CCI BR primers
one ragged hole in 2 different Tikkas
very dead deer

Here is a load I have been using for many years. Works well for me. 44 gr. of 4064, 150 gr. Hornady Spire Point, and CCI 200 primer.

Mr. Big: I have quite a few bullet tipsleft for reloading my .308. However, when I need new bullets I think I am going to switch to the Hornady SST. My son used an SST bullet this year in his .257 Roberts and plunked a nice buck. That bullet seemed to do a great job. I once heard that folks in the western states didn't like .308's. Is there any truth to that statement? Rodd

Rodd: i am in the same state as you, only at the very top in the panhandle. even though its the same state, i have heard that from the top to the bottom is close to the same distance as from where i am to canada? the 308 is very well liked up here though and we have flat, treeless, and windy wide open country were 400 yards shots are presented pretty often. can you tell me if the difference between the sst and interbond bullets. arent they both bonded bullets? they look identical.

Mr. Big: I am in Pennsylvania. Up here we hunt mountains, brush, Laurel, open space and whatever. People use anything from.243 to big mags. Lots of 30-06's. I used the .308 for over twenty years. Then switched over to a .280. The word I heard was more from the Wyoming MOntana area. They just didn't like a .308 because they said it punched holes in the animals and didn't knock them down righ away. For more open country I would go with a .280. Very flat and it hits hard. Later. the hornady sst (super shock tip) is an interlock bullet. it has a ring in the jacket that holds it together just like the spire point bullets.interbond bullets are ,well interbond.
