When I was 14 years old I had a nice eight point appear, I raised my old Jennings Super T and as I drew the arrow slipped off the old flipper rest and made the tale-tell sound. The buck took three big steps and was out of sight. Never got to full draw. Last weekend I was in my pop up blind and a mature ten pointer, a 150 - 160 class buck is within 20 yards. I raise my bow and because of the angle of his approach I had to hold my bow slightly slanted to the right as I drew, and again that tale-tell sound. Three big steps and the buck of a lifetime is out of sight. This time it's a forked fall away rest. I've always disliked this rest because even when shooting in the yard the durn arrow would fall off the rest. Driving home Sunday night I had plenty of time to think about things. Bang - a Whisker Biscuit came to mind. I hot footed it down to Gander Mountain and bought one before the wife had a chance to tell me I couldn't spend any more money on hunting this year. Dang it, I have had the very last arrow fall of the rest when it counts. I added a drop of superglue to the front of the fletch on each of my arrows before I even shot it. I can now turn my bow in a 360 degree circle in any way I choose, and the stupid arrow won't fall. It won't come off - period. The arrows fly well. My only question has been "What the heck took me so long?" In my mind, I knew that I had a very good, very expensive rest on my bow, so it had to work. It was accurate as it could be. After all, I am an experienced archer, and this shouldn't be an issue for me. Well, it has been an issue all my life. I learned to shoot with the slant to the right which those who shoot the recurves and long bows do. I've also found that deer don't read the memos that say they are supposed to approach from a certain side or direction. They continue to come from the wrong way. If you don't have a problem with the arrow falling from the rest then you're ok. If you do, don't wait until you miss the draw on the buck of a lifetime as I did. Get a Whisker Biscuit and be done with it.

Glad you came to the club. I was tired of bummping the tip of my arrow and have it fall off the rest.

I was just mad at myself after I installed this thing and saw how well it works, for waiting so long to try it out.

Great post. I am only beginning to bowhunt and I have found the arrow coming off the rest now and again, though it has not cost me a shot (yet). Think I might have to make the switch as well. Already had the WB recommended as good for beginners anyway . . .

Call me a beginner, or whatever you want. Just don't call me late for supper. And, don't call me a person who's arrow falls off the rest when it counts any longer. Hard lesson learned.

And, don't call me Shirley! Of course I am kidding. Well, not about being late for supper, I'd never kid about that; but certainly as far as being a beginner. I've been bowshooting for 30 years. I guess I am not certain how this rest will effect the arrow flight at longer distances, say 30 yards plus, but at the closer ranges it doesn't seem to change it. I am amazed at how steadfast the arrow is once placed. I absolutely love that.

You will still love it at long range. 50 yards is no problem when target shooting. I will always prefer the 20 yarder when hunting.

My son just switched to a whisker biscuit this year. He can't say enough good things about it either. I guess I'll have to try it next year.

this is my first year bow hunting.. I've seen real success with the whisker biscuit on the range, and 100% (two for two) in the field with animals.

I just like the sound of whisker biscuit. Its got my redneck heritage written all over it. I could never go back to a drop away rest again either.

I thought the same thing when I saw the name. I kinda thought I'd leave that alone, which is not really like me. Sometimes my better judgement gets the best of me.

I agree with ya'll entirely on the name. I read a post in the past where a fella was talking about his spouse being new to archery and that she used this arrow rest. I really fought the urge to ask some funny questions and did not do so.

Hey, Joshua ........and all bowhunters, Speaking of wierd names for equipment, how many of you ever heard of "beaver balls" as pertaining to archery accessories? http://www.yeoldearcheryshoppe.com/beaver-balls-p-4456.html

So, if your bow is louder than that, too loud for a beaver, what then do you use?

What kind of rig is that Hntr? I just changed out the disk on my Whisker Biscuit. I got the medium and my arrows filled it up, so I changed it out for the large.

Boy, after changing the disk out to the larger size, I about threw that Whisker Biscuit across the room and put the old fork back on. I had to change out the nocking points, and I got the bottom one too low. It all of the sudden got so inconsistent I couldn't group at all. I've gone back through the paper tuning twice, and I am very close to having the center of the arrow in the center of the fletching tear. At least I don't think I can get it any better. After I raised the bottom nocking point, the groups tightened back up. I am a little happier now. Oh year, I forgot to put super glue on two of the arrows I was shooting today and it ripped the fletch off of one after 3 shots. Back at Gander Mountain I noticed a couple more of these "capturing" rests - they enclose the shaft, but not 100%. Has anyone checked those out?

Well, I've had enough with the Whisker Biscuit experiment. I am pulling it off, calling it a 50 something dollar failed experiment, and throwing the stupid thing away. It's a piece of crap. I can group arrows in a 12 inch circle at 10 yards, and no better. Sometimes it's left, sometimes it's right, sometimes high, sometimes low. And, even with super glue on the fletches it's tearing up my fletchs. I am going to try one of the other capture style rests. Anyone want to buy a Whisker Biscuit with two disks?

I guess my son got lucky because the last time he came up he was target shooting in backyard and he was dead on, shot after shot. Even at forty yards he was consistently inside a pie plate. He did have to change to blazer vanes right away but other than that he didn't change anything else.

My vanes are Blazers too. I guess that has a lot to do with it. It shouldn't though. One should be able to use his existing gear. There are just too many options out there these days. I am not going back to the BoDoodle though. Off in search of the perfect rest!

musta burned that biscuit. I've had luck with mine, but it does seem strange that folks suggest them for people that are new to archery, like maybe there is something better out there. I haven't had issues with the fletching falling off though, I have that done at archery country in austin. Maybe someone at a pro-shop could recommend something for you. I have heard good stuff about a nap quick tune drop away rest.

Viking Archery in Houston solved my problem yet again. I talked to them about the rest and the guy showed me that cat. The end all, be all rest. It's the Rip Cord drop away rest. I am going to buy one of these as soon as I get off of work and can sneak the credit card from mamma. You can lock it up for hunting and it's a capture rest just as with a Whisker Biscuit, but draw your bow, and it assumes the position. As soon as you release, it releases and falls away so you get optimum arrow travel with no resistence. Kevin, one of Viking Archery's owner's sons, went and got his own bow and showed me how it works. I've dealt with this bunch of folks for nearly 20 years, so I trust them. I watched the rest do it's thing, and it's the real deal - just what I've been looking for...

Yes, that's the name of the rest. It's like the "biscuit" with gravy! That's their slogan and it sure does fit. A fall away rest that's also a capture rest. http://www.ripcordarrowrest.com/

After purchasing my RipCord, and the guys at Viking installed it for free even though they sold to me $10 cheaper than it was at Gander Mountain, I got one good hunt in. Took a doe at about 14 yards out of my pop up blind. The RipCord did exactly what they say it does. I paper tuned it and the bow was shooting bullet holes in short order. I was grouping with field points and broadheads, one might say "stacking". At 10 to 20 yards my arrows with field points were touching, and with broadheads I was pretty much in the center of the spot. Now, this is the same bow that would not shoot a bullet hole with the biscuit no matter what I did. Dang it, that's what hurt my shoulder in the first place. The RipCord gets my highest stamp of approval...

i've had good luck with the biscuit? i don't know why it didnt work for you. at the beginning of the post, you liked it. then you changed to a bigger hole and it all went downhill. why did you change? what was wrong with the first disk? i am planning on a new bow sometime this summer and wondering now if to get another biscuit.
